Why St Jude Novena Prayer?

The nine days of prayer signify the nine days the early Apostles prayed together during the time between the Ascension of Jesus and Pentecost, when they were truly inspired with the presence of the Holy Spirit. St. Jude was one of the Apostles and a cousin to Jesus.

The St. Jude League offers a simple way to pray the Solemn Novena to St. Jude. Sign up to receive nine days of St. Jude Novena prayer, sent to your email address.

The hope of St. Jude teaches us that his saintly intercession takes away our desperation. Our causes placed before God are no longer hopeless, and our ability to navigate through life's challenges is strengthened.

How do I pray to St. Jude?

Your desire to pray to St. Jude comes not from you, but from God calling you to pray. Your prayer can be as simple as "St. Jude, pray for us," or "Thank you, St. Jude."

Novena prayer is an open door for you to walk through and spend time with the God who loves you. You are most human, and most loved by God, when you share with Him your specific petitions.

Our prayer always consists of reflection, and our special St. Jude prayer:

PRAYER TO ST. JUDE

Most holy apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant
and friend of Jesus, the Church honors and
invokes you universally, as the patron of
hopeless cases, of things almost despaired
of. Pray for me, I am so helpless and alone.
Make use I implore you, of that particular
privilege given to you, to bring visible and
speedy help where help is almost despaired
of. Come to my assistance in this great need
that I may receive the consolation and
help of heaven in all my necessities,
tribulations, and sufferings, particularly
(here make your request) and that I may
praise God with you and all the elect
forever. I promise, O blessed St. Jude, to be
ever mindful of this great favor, to always
honor you as my special and powerful
patron, and to gratefully encourage
devotion to you. Amen.
