Advent Meditation

DAY 1: December 2nd -- First Sunday of Advent

Thank you for taking time to pray our St. Jude Daily Advent Meditations. We look forward to praying with and for you during these holy days.

The Advent wreath is lit, marking the coming of the birth of our Savior. Prepare the way of the Lord by committing to a quiet time of reflection throughout Advent.

Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.

DAY 2: Monday, December 3rd

Advent is a time for looking within. Give some thought to which aspects of your spiritual life you hope will benefit from these days of reflection.

For over all, his glory will be shelter and protection: shade from the parching heat of day, refuge and cover from storm and rain.

DAY 3: Tuesday, December 4th

The Blessed Mother gave herself over freely to God's will. May you discern God's presence in your life, so you can continue to say "yes" to His call to faith.

But a shoot shall sprout from the stump of Jesse, and from his roots a bud shall blossom.

DAY 4: Wednesday, December 5th

Advent is a time for giving. Consider what small ways you can reach out in service to others during the coming weeks.

Behold our God, to whom we looked to save us! Let us rejoice and be glad!

DAY 5: Thursday, December 6th

St. Jude, help us grow in virtue this advent. We pray for a new year full of faith, hope, and love.

The way of the just is smooth; the path of the just you make level.

DAY 6: Friday, December 7th

We devote ourselves to St. Jude, keeping him close to us in prayer. St. Jude, we offer you all of our petitions with gratitude.

The lowly will ever find joy in the Lord, and the poor rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

DAY 7: Saturday, December 8th

Forgiveness is an essential fruit of the spirit. Dear God, give us the strength to forgive and the courage to ask forgiveness.

Here is your God; He comes with vindication; with divine recompense He comes to save you.

DAY 8: Sunday, December 9th

We light the second candle on the Advent wreath today. We pray for the grace to stay close to God as we prepare for Christmas and the start of a New Year.

Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.

DAY 9: Monday, December 10th

Family is a special part of Christmas. May those who are away from their families feel the presence of God, and may all families experience His healing love.

Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill shall be made low.

DAY 10: Tuesday, December 11th

St. Jude offers us hope so we might share it with kindness and generosity. Be open to the difference this simple guideline can make in your perspective, too!

With God nothing will be impossible.

DAY 11: Wednesday, December 12th

Our Lady of Guadalupe offered Juan Diego miraculous roses in winter as a sign of her love for all people. May she protect and bless us as we celebrate her feast today.

My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.

DAY 12: Thursday, December 13th

Jesus lived His mission to show through His actions that everyone is a beloved child of God. Pray that God will bless the Claretians as they follow in Christ's ministry of service.

You shall rejoice in the Lord, and glory in the Holy One of Israel.

DAY 13: Friday, December 14th

Prayer is the foundation of our faith. Turn to God, who knows our needs before we even bring them to Him, and trust that our prayers never go unheard.

I, the Lord, your God, teach you what is for your good, and lead you on the way you should go.

DAY 14: Saturday, December 15th

Is there an area of your life that is in need of healing? Let St. Jude know your need for guidance, insight, and hope.

The desert and the parched land will exult; the steppe will rejoice and bloom.

DAY 15: Sunday, December 16th

As we light the third candle of Advent, we take a moment to reflect on the peace and joy of Christmas.

Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way before you.

DAY 16: Monday, December 17th

Today we entrust those most in need to Christ's compassion, hope, and healing. May St. Jude keep them in his care.

You are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.

DAY 17: Tuesday, December 18th

Throughout the world there is much turmoil. God, grant aid and peace to all people, and bless the Claretians in their ministries to help those in need.

The virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means 'God is with us.'

DAY 18: Wednesday, December 19th

We are gathered together in our love for St. Jude. We pray for our special intentions, through his intercession.

He will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother's womb, and he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.

DAY 19: Thursday, December 20th

Children await Christmas with blessed excitement. May God watch over them, and may they know His love throughout their lives.

The Virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.

DAY 20: Friday, December 21st

God wants us to be fulfilled in our lives and become all that we were created to be. We turn to Him for the courage to take action toward that fulfillment.

Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.

DAY 21: Saturday, December 22nd

We may be busy with many things today, but we ground ourselves with quiet moments of prayer, allowing the joy of Christmas to flourish in our hearts.

The world's true light, the Lord, comes with power and might.

DAY 22: Sunday, December 23rd

Every candle now shines on our Advent wreath. The days of Christmas have arrived. As we say "Merry Christmas," let us truly offer good will toward others.

Prepare the way for the coming of the Lord!

DAY 23: Monday, December 24th

Silent night. Holy night. May we carry the calm and peace of the birth of Christ into the New Year.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for He has visited and brought redemption to His people.

DAY 24: Tuesday, December 25th

Christ the Savior is born! As we celebrate in joyful gratitude with others around the world, we look for His continued presence in ourselves and others.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.
