Claretian Mother House & First New U.S. Parish — San Antonio
In the early 1900s, the first Claretians came to the United States. They started out in San Antonio at the invitation of the bishop. The diocese needed the Claretians to take charge of the Cathedral and to hopefully energize the spirit of the faithful in the city. The response of the people was great, and led to the Claretians establishing their U.S. Mother House and a new parish, in addition to ministering to a new vibrant Cathedral parish. We are happy to share some images from this piece of Claretian history with you.
I hope you have enjoyed this brief look into the history of the Claretians in the U.S. My fellow Claretians and I continue to pray for you at the National Shrine of St. Jude. Send your petitions or any special intentions you may have to us. We will deliver them directly to the altar of St. Jude for prayer.
May God bless you, and may St. Jude keep you in his care.
Yours in prayer,
Father Mark Brummel, C.M.F.
Director, St. Jude League
