St. Jude

Dear Friend of St. Jude,

Thank you for being a faithful supporter of the National Shrine of St. Jude, and for joining me in prayer during this Advent season. Please share the hope of St. Jude by forwarding this opportunity for Advent reflection to your family and friends.

God's love for us is strong. He seeks us out, always drawing us closer into His friendship. St. Jude, our powerful patron, accompanies us in our Advent preparation for Christ. He offers a gleaming ray of hope in the darkness of winter. Know that you have the support of the St. Jude League community throughout these days.

Thank you for taking time this Advent season for these daily reflections. We look forward to praying with and for you during these holy days.

Let's take a moment this third Sunday of Advent to reflect with expectant joy:

Jesus' coming at Christmas gives birth to the Holy Family. Say a prayer for the members of your family this day, asking the Lord to hold each of them in the palm of His hand.

Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you; he will prepare your way before you.

We take a moment this 16th day of Advent to reflect with expectant joy:

How patient have you been today? Look closely at those times when peace has eluded you and ask God to strengthen you.

You are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.

We take a moment this 17th day of Advent to reflect with expectant joy:

The sleeping Christ child reminds us not to worry—that we are safe in the arms of God. Rest peacefully in His love.

The virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel, which means 'God is with us.'

We take a moment this 18th day of Advent to reflect with expectant joy:

Miracles do happen. Think of all you have accomplished in your life—all of these give witness to the power of faith in God. Say a prayer of thanksgiving to St. Jude.

He will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother's womb, and he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.

We take a moment this 19th day of Advent to reflect with expectant joy:

Today ask for the grace to be more aware of how Jesus is always at your side. Seek Him out in the faces of everyone you meet.

The Virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.

We take a moment this 20th day of Advent to reflect with expectant joy:

Take the road less traveled. Find some way to change your routine today, and give thanks for your freedom.

Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

We take a moment this 21st day of Advent to reflect with expectant joy:

Jesus, the King of kings, will be born a poor, helpless little child. How can you embrace poverty as he did?

The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
